I haven't posted in awhile despite me sketching up a STORM.

This post will be very Hobb-heavy again. Sorry. Except I'm not really sorry, because these books are incredible and I CAN'T STOP ME!


From a series of Beloved-heads I did... this is the only one I am comfortable with showing. A Assassin's Quest Fool, making his best teasing-Fitz face


I made this unholy conglomeration for DA and decided it would save me all of 40 seconds to upload it instead of each sketch individually. Just a bunch of different sketches. Lord Golden/The Fool, Fitz/Tom Badgerlock, Verity, Regal, Kettricken, Nighteyes (wolves are hard 8c).


Fool: Fitz fixes feist's fits! FAT SUFFICES!
Fitz: ... wut?
Fool: GOD you're such an idiot.


For a painting I am gonna do - Fitz hunting with Nighteyes.

LOLord Golden. In my head he wants desperately to be really fruity and glam-rockish, so I caved. Lord Golden is the fucking Goblin King now.


Chade making tea, a scene Fitz notes because he loves Chade and wants to remember him should something happen.

Random Fools. One on the right is maybe an older version of him, inspired by John Howe.


Holy shit, Molly. At least, Fitz's idealized version of her. Contrasted to the Fool on Aslevjal. And a Tom Badgerlock in particolored tights!

I admit I've picked up a small obsession with Superjail! It's embarassing because the show is so ridiculous sometimes, but I just LOVE the Twins, and Alice and Jared so much. And the psychadelic madness.

eye to eye

This post is very Robin Hobb heavy. I'm sorry, but I'm almost done with Fool's Fate, and I'm so incredibly obsessed right now it's not that funny XD


The Fool. Who is like now one of my favorite characters of all time. He is amazing. I don't know how Hobb does it, but the Fool is very enigmatic, ethereal and confusingly beautiful, while also at the same time being completely human, with human faults and issues and feelings... UGH!!! So amazing. His only strengths are really in his razor-sharp tongue and wit, and that's all he has to protect him from the world.


The Fool as his appearance in the Tawny Man books - Lord Golden, spoiled and decadent nobleman. Another facet of an enigmatic character, one very necessary.



Some sketches - Fool as Prophet, some Fitzes (I like the one on the left the best!) and a possible Prince Verity.



And my favorite XD I'm such a loser. Fitz and the Fool (as Lord Golden), they have a relationship that is beyond anything - beyond love, sex, friendship, romance... all of it. I.. I know how the books end, but I can't accept it, because I think they deserve some peace together. fskjafhslkdj. I like how it turned out, a LOT, and I hope to eventually do a nicer Fitz/Fool picture. GEEEEEEE.

I need to rant about the books for a bit, and I can't think of any better place for it, because no one reads this really, so I feel more comfortable just blabbing stuff XD

I knew already I was getting somewhat emotionally wound up in these books from the start, and now that I'm near the end, my mind has been totally taken over! I haven't had THIS feeling in such a long time, though it is both a blessing and an annoyance - I can't even think straight about other stuff, but it gives me a sort of delight and joy. Though I think the ending will disappoint me greatly... ._.

Oh well, in my own mind I can make up what I wish to see happen eventually. It's kind of weird how much I'm being fangirly about this XP It's embarassing but pleasant. I might have to re-read the two series. I might read the Liveship Traders books just get a bit more Fool in my life, even if he appears as someone totally different.

I wish I could create a character so wonderful. I wish my own characters could sometimes spark these feelings in me :[

Summary: I'm NUTS!! And kind of obsessed. There will be more art of them soon, I promise~!

I decided I wanted to put up some stuff from school. Actually it's kinda old - done way back in Fall 2007. But I still kinda like them, and I feel like posting to get the meta entry off my first post. Hee.

First 5 done with homemade egg tempera + pigments.


Prehistoric palette - burnt sienna, burnt umber, charcoal, chalk white, yellow ochre.



Medieval palette - all of the above, plus ultramarine, terra verte and malachite. This one is totally my favorite (and everyone else's too, lol)


Baroque/Renaissance palette. All of the above plus some others I can't remember.


Modern palette - using synthetic pigments like pthalo blue, viridian, etc


Contemporary palette - whatever I wanted.


Next two are encaustic. (wax + Pigment on wood) Encaustic = biggest pain in the ASS EVER.


Wound.



Infected wound. (+ asphaltum)

They had a whole description behind them, but I don't really feel like blathering any more.

So since I host this blog on my own webspace as opposed to Blogger, I can't use their specific customization features. So if I want to NOT use the built-in designs I have to edit the HTML/CSS myself D:

God damn it. I fail at HTML and CSS.


Oh well. Someone told me Blogger is the Geocities of today's blogging, I guess I'll just roll with it, lol! Maybe I can at least make a few changes. Hmm.

steadfast i walk

Sorry for letting this flounder for some time. I'd try to make a promise to post at least once a month but I never seem to get it together. I haven't been drawing much lately - job takes a lot of energy from me.

I also de-linked this place from my website. Even if it is pretty damn easy to find anyway, I like having a least a little bit of separation from my budding professional life and my for-fun non-professional life.

I've managed to squeeze a few things out to post here, though.

First draft of "the beloved", only failed because I thought the pose was kinda boring.


Some fail of Ivan. Trying to get the hang of the inkwash thing.


I bought some Yupo paper. I'm not sure I really get the point of watercolor paper that is waterproof. I kinda feel like I'm being massively trolled. But it DOES make the colors SUPER bright and rich, even if the color wipes right off if you so much as look at it wrong.

It was meant to be Axel floating in water, sorta. Psychology, ugh.


More fooling with Yupo. I-I kinda like the effect, actually.


Liss said the only character of hers I haven't drawn is Owen, so let's take care of that now :3 I've also thought about doing some inkwash commissions since my inkwash pics seem to be going over really well on DA.

Hekat, from K. Miller's series Godspeaker. Hekat is nuts, and this is how I would envision her. I know her hand is messed up, and Mijaki don't wear sleeves :|
